Oak Brook is located 18 miles from Chicago and is known for its upscale homes and thriving corporate scene. In the 1830s Frederick Graue built Graue Mill along Salt Creek. His family ran the mill for the next 60 years. The Mill was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1975 and it is one of three authenticated underground railway stations in Illinois where runaway slaves found a haven.
